Under the framework of G20, Ministry of Tourism organised its first Tourism Working Group meeting from 7th to 9th February 2023 in Rann of Kutch, Gujarat. The last meeting will be held in Goa.
The delegates from G20 member countriesdeliberated on 5 inter related priority areas for tourism.
• Greening of tourism sector
• Harnessing the power of digitization
• Empowering youth with skills
• Nurturing tourism MSMEs/ startups
• Rethinking the strategic management of destinations
These priority areas will constitute the key building blocks for accelerating the transition of the tourism sector and will achieve the targets for 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Delegates of Rann of Kutch meeting were taken to Dholavira which is a UNESCO world heritage site
Nearly 6.9 million tourists have arrived in India from abroad in 2022 post COVID pandemic
The four fold rise in the tourist arrivals to India indicates the success of India's efforts to achieve resilient growth in tourism.
