Named after Aurangzeb, the sixth Mughal Emperor, Aurangabad is found in the state of Maharashtra.  It was made capital of the Mughal Empire by Aurangzeb for his campaigns to conquer the last remaining Sulatanates of Deccan. Aurangabad has come quite a long way since its declaration of the Mughal capital, and its rich mix of architectural styles surely bears testament to its comprehensive history of Medieval India. Attractions Aurangabad travel is ideal for a number of reasons, and the city really makes for an excellent travel base to explore the Ajanta caves and Ellora World heritage sites.  The Bibi Ka Maqbara, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb’s wife, is a definite must-visit when enjoying Aurangabad travel. Aurangabad is definitely worth a visit when in Maharashtra, and the fact that it is well linked to other Indian cities by rail makes it an even more attractive stop on your India itinerary.
